Snug as a Bug in a Rug

There are so many things to love about late fall and early winter!  Thanksgiving, holiday shopping, lights, hot chocolate, roasted chestnuts, Christmas--not to mention adorable coats, hats, scarves, vests, and layers upon layers! Check out some of the great cold-weather items we have in the store right now.

Isn't this coat great?  Toasty warm, and really cute all at the same time.

Top: $58

Gone are the days of looking like a roasted marshmallow just because you want to stay warm.  This puffy vest will keep you looking great and feeling cozy with just the right amount of fluff.  Add this great tee from Salt and Pepper Tees that has a list of California beach cities on it--if you can't be there soaking up the rays, the next best thing is wearing them on your shirt.

Top: $32
Pants: $158
Vest: $210
Necklace: $54
Purse: $128

Do you know how much heat escapes through your head in the winter?  Lots!  Keep that from happening with this adorable felt hat.

We love this faux leather jacket.  It's just so classy!  A great way to stay warm without looking like you're dressed for a day on the slopes.

This scarf is so big and cozy.  The fringe is a unique touch to an otherwise simple color block knit scarf.

We love how this jacket looks over this dress.  You're feeling warmer just looking at it, aren't you?

Textures Galore

One of the best things about fall and winter fashion is the huge variety of textures available.  Texture is an often-ignored aspect of an outfit.  It's easy to overlook, but it's just as easy to add it in.  And as always, we've got you covered!

The textures in this outfit are subtle but beautiful.  The top is satiny and it goes great with these pants that have an unexpected velvety texture.

Top: $58
Pants: $186
Necklace: $40
Purse:$138

This top initially looks like a simple tee with some contrast trim.  Take a closer look and you'll see that the contrast trim is actually brown suede--a lovely and unexpected twist to an otherwise simple top.

Top: $38
Pants: $158
Necklace: $54
Purse: $128

A dark pencil skirt is a must in every closet.  The subtle print and weave of this one take it to the next level.

Top: $78
Skirt: $88
Belt: $12
Scarf: $38
Purse: $108

Here is another example of great textural difference within one piece.  The contrast print on the sleeves and pocket are made from sequins.  A little sparkle never hurt anyone!

Top: $38
Pants: $38
Scarf: $38

Knitted pieces bring a great deal of subtle texture to an outfit, depending on the size of the knit.  This cardigan is a finer knit, but it still adds great contrast with the denim and leather pieces.

Top: $68
Sweater: $38
Jeans: $128
Necklace: $78
Purse: $138

This sweater dress looks great with a chunky knit scarf on top.  Both are knit, but with vastly different textures.

Dress: $118
Scarf: $22
Purse: $128

Besides the great texture in this pullover layered over a flowy jersey top, this diaper bag from Petunia Picklebottom features a beautiful embossed design.  Its beautiful neutral gray will go with any outfit, but the texture takes it from being a solely functional piece to being a piece with great visual interest.

Top: $48
Sweater: $88
Jeans: $189
Bag: $210

So whether you're more into satin or chunky knits are your vibe, we've got something you'll love!

Baby It's Cold Outside

There is no denying it now--the cold weather is finally here!  We love summer and the warm weather as much as the next person, but you just can't beat the fashions that come with colder weather.  Check out some of our current favorites!

We love this tank so much; it has such gorgeous details but it is a bit too chilly to wear on its own right now!  Add this gorgeous jacket and scarf and not only are the great details not lost, but you'll be nice and toasty.

Tank: $88
Jacket: $98
Pants: $198
Scarf: $38

This striped dress is so sweet.  And it looks great with this indigo jacket.  Our favorite felt hats are here and just perfect for keeping your head warm when it's frosty out.

Dress: $52
Jacket: $94
Necklace: $56
Backpack: $75
Hat: $14

Can you believe it's already time to be thinking about what you're going to wear to holiday parties?  We can't believe it, but we're so excited anyway!  These next two outfits would be great for a nice Thanksgiving dinner in a few weeks.

Top: $54
Skirt: $26
Necklace: $48

Top: $$40
Skirt: $54
Purse: $128

Dresses are so fun and effortless, we love them so. But they can be a bit chilly on their own.  Layer a sweater on top and add some tights (we have some beautiful ones in right now) and you're good to go!
Dress: $48
Sweater: $108
Necklace: $88
Bag: $209

This skirt from Free People is perfect for this military style jacket and cozy scarf.  It would look great with tights as well!

Top: $78
Jacket: $198
Skirt: $88
Scarf: $22
Necklace: $54

This thin cardigan is a great option for the cooler weather.  It's enough to give you some added warmth under a coat, but still not too heavy that you have to take it off when you get inside heated buildings.  Plus it goes just perfectly with this embroidered top!

Top: $56
Sweater $46
Jeans: $128
Necklace: $78
Purse: $138

Aren't sweatshirts the best?  We have just one complaint. Sometimes they just aren't very flattering.  But that's not the case with this beautiful number from Free People.  Keep warm and look stylish? Sign us up!

Top: $128
Pants: $38
Scarf: $48
Purse: $228

Pullovers are great on their own, but they are even better when they have a whimsical design on the front!  We have other designs in as well--owls, foxes, and penguins, oh my!  So cozy and fun.

Sweater: $66
Pants: $88
Purse: $128

There's no need to stand there shivering--come on in and warm up!

Pattern Play

We love patterns so much!  They make our fashion hearts sing.  They are an instant pick up to any outfit.  Check out some of the beautiful patterned pieces we have in the store right now!

We love this pretty floral jacket, and it looks so great with anything striped, like this tee!

We are loving all the tribal-inspired prints available now.  This cozy sweater looks beautiful with this layered turquoise necklace.

This turtleneck sweater is beautiful.  The yarn is tweed-inspired and the bits of color are so lovely and unexpected.

Isn't this little plaid number gorgeous?  We love that it is in these beautiful neutral colors.

Here is another great plaid sweater if you're looking for something a bit brighter!

This script print tee is lovely.  It brings a little bit of excitement to this classic black/cream outfit.

Top: $26
Skirt: $54

Purse: $128

Here is another of our favorite tribal-inspired prints.  This gorgeous blouse looks amazing on its own, and would look just as great under a jacket or sweater for these chilly fall days!

Top: $80
Jeans: $209
Purse: $138
Necklace: $48

See what I mean?  Our hearts are singing already--lalala!

Color My World

What does your closet look like?  Is it filled with lots of color?  Or is it full of basic blacks, whites, grays, and other neutrals?  There's nothing wrong with that!  With so many beautiful color options this season, it can be a bit overwhelming trying to incorporate more color into your wardrobe.  But never fear, we can help! Here are a few ways you can start sneaking some color in with all your great neutrals--or find some new favorite basics!

The quickest way to add in some color is with some bright accessories.  We love this scarf and purse with this tiered dress--proof you can look nicely put-together with just three pieces!

Dress: $88
 Scarf: $22
Purse: $128

One great thing about denim is that it can be a neutral or a nice bit of beautiful blue when paired with other neutrals.  This skirt also comes in navy, or a lovely mustard yellow if you're ready for even more color!

Shirt: $84
Skirt: $56
Purse: $138
Scarf: $22

Speaking of blue, isn't this sweater lovely?  It has a hood for extra fun and would look just as great over a dress as it does over jeans and a tee.

Sweater: $66
Tee: $26
Necklace: $54
Jeans: $168

Here's another great cardigan, this one with some beautiful burgundy in the design.  It looks great over our favorite drapey tee!

Sweater: $64
Shirt: $20
Necklace: $62
Purse: $198
Jeans: $198
Hat: $14

We love the beautiful blues and greens in this cardigan.  The color is subtle, but just enough to take this basic black and white tee to the next level.

 Sweater: $74
Shirt: $28
Necklace: $48
Pants: $230

Ready for something bright?  This jacket has a neutral charcoal front and sleeves, but with this beautiful colored pattern on the back.

 Jacket: $56
Pants: $189

Stay close to your favorite neutrals with this gray drapey cardigan and black pants, and add your color in with this tee with pink paint-splatter detail over the black and white print!

Sweater: $96
Tee: $22
Pants: $248
Scarf: $22

This kimono is a gorgeous way to bring some color to a neutral outfit.  It's navy with a beautiful floral print in red and white and we love it with these waxed gray jeans.

Kimono: $62
Top: $46
Jeans: $198
Necklace: $80

Now you're ready to add even more color.  This tulle skirt is gorgeous in this dusty rose color, and comes in a beautiful blue as well.  We love it paired with our favorite gray and white striped tee and neutral jacket!

Jacket: $78
Top: $34
Skirt: $54
Necklace (includes earrings): $18

Have a day full of color!

Layer Cake

So many wonderful things have layers.  Cakes, onions, misunderstood ogres, sedimentary rock formations.  Not to mention some really great outfits!  One of the best things about fall is that we can finally start layering again, and there are so many fun ways to do it.

We love how this top and cardigan have similar lengths.  It's like they were made to be worn together.  This is an easy and simple way to layer.  This lovely necklace and great bag give the outfit a bit more dimension.

Cardigan: $72
Top: $68
Jeans: $168
Necklace: $54
Purse: $278

A shirt under a sweater is a classic combination.  Add a new spin to it by wearing a sweater with cropped sleeves over a shirt with fun cuff details.  That way you can stay warm, and the beautiful embroidery isn't lost in the meantime!

Sweater: $74
Top: $118
Pants: $198
Purse: $128

We love dresses, they can be a beautiful outfit in just one piece of clothing.  But that can also be their downfall--they sometimes aren't very versatile.  Not to mention that sometimes they seem a bit too fancy to wear for everyday activities.  But have you ever considered layering with your dresses?  This sweatshirt-type tee looks great layered over this lovely purple dress, making it a bit more casual and giving it a completely new look!

Top: $48
Dress: $54
Necklace: $56
Bag: $110

We love layering crop tops with some of the great longer pieces we have in right now, especially when they have similar sleeve lengths.

Crop top: $38
Top: $56
Pants: $248
Necklace: $62
Purse: $108

Denim jackets are so classic.  This one is a basic that every girl needs in her closet.  You may be a bit wary of the denim on denim trend--we get it, bad memories from the 80s--so stick a toe in by wearing your denim jacket with a different color of denim, like this basic black.

Top: $34
Jacket: $74
Pants: $230
Scarf: $26
Purse: $138

Some shirts were made for layering, like this beautiful one with side slits.  Keep it subtle like we did here with a neutral colored tee underneath, or sneak in a fun pop of bright color.  Go wild!  There are no rules!

Top: $30
Tee: $24
Pants: $150
Necklace: $88
Purse: $278

This tank is one of our favorite pieces for layering.  It is beautiful on its own, but it also looks great underneath other shirts because of the fun beaded detail on the hem.  We think it goes just perfectly with this peplum top from Free People.

Peplum: $68
Tank: $88
Pants: $28
Necklace: $70
Purse: $198

The more layers the better, don't you think?  Do it with lighter pieces so you're not sweating by lunchtime.  Look how great this button-up top looks with a henley over it, all topped off by another great denim jacket!

White Top: $54
Burgundy Top: $78
Denim: $94
Pants: $128
Necklace: $48
Bag: $209

Here is another of our favorite ways to layer dresses.  Maybe you have a dress that you love that is a bit too short for fall.  Pull a fall skirt on over it and it's a completely new outfit.  Layer some patterns while you're at it--we love the way these stripes look with this floral jacket!

Stripe Dress: $138
Skirt: $62
Jacket: $34
Necklace: $80
Purse: $128

Happy layering!
